This is an awesome drive for that PS3 that you've been meaning to upgrade from 60, 90, 120, 250 GB to something more usefull..
I used a 1T SATA mounted in my iMicro esternal USB 3.0 cradel and the PS3 software to back up my PS3 to the external. Then I swapped out the 120G for the 500G and used the PS3 tools to install OS and get the PS3 set up to factory.
Then you just use the tools again to transfer the old drive finger print to the new drive via USB... saves / profiles / settings all of it corsses over. Just like the original drive but with more space for your DL content maps games movies music etc.
